This stereograph looks along Pennsylvania Avenue from the Treasury toward the United States Capitol, the broad route that connected the executive and legislative seats of government and carried inaugural parades. The caption card's notes point to street railways, a reminder that streetcar lines were carrying Washingtonians along this corridor by the early 1900s. The card was issued by Underwood & Underwood, a firm that published large numbers of stereo views for home viewers. The c1903 date comes from the caption card and is unverified, so it is best read as an approximate estimate.
