The $25,000 challenge at the center of this poster invited anyone to test their strength against Louis Cyr, billed as the strongest man on Earth. Cyr, a French-Canadian lifter born in 1863, was among the best-known strongmen of his era, and circus tours carried his feats well beyond Quebec. The bill also names Horace Barre, the "French Hercules," as an assisting performer. Printed in color lithography, the poster was built to catch eyes from a distance on fences and walls.
