The yacht *Mayflower*, known as President Theodore Roosevelt's vessel, is shown at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on the East River, where the Navy fitted out, repaired, and maintained its ships. Built in the 1890s as a private yacht, *Mayflower* was later acquired by the Navy and served as a presidential yacht, carrying Roosevelt and later presidents on trips along the Atlantic coast. The Detroit Publishing Company, a commercial firm that produced large numbers of city and landscape views in the early 1900s, made the glass-plate negative around 1904. Its record notes that the negative was a gift to the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949.
