League Park was the home field for Cleveland's major league teams for more than four decades, and this glass plate shows it during the years when the club was known as the Naps. Cy Young pitched for Cleveland in these years, and the ballpark drew crowds to the city's East Side throughout the early twentieth century. The Detroit Publishing Company, a commercial firm that photographed American towns, landmarks and scenery for sale to the public, made the 8 by 10 inch negative, and its survival in the Library of Congress preserves a view of early ballpark architecture.
