Saginaw General Hospital sat in Saginaw, Michigan, a lumber city on the Saginaw River that grew prosperous on timber cut from the state's interior in the late 1800s. The Detroit Publishing Company, which documented American towns, rail lines and civic buildings around 1900, made this view on an 8 by 10 inch glass dry plate negative that held fine detail. Its record also notes a 1949 gift to the State Historical Society of Colorado before the negative reached the Library of Congress.
