A large residence on Jefferson Avenue is the subject here, and the Detroit Historic Designation Advisory Board identifies it as the John B. Ford house, which stood at 8192 East Jefferson Avenue at the time of the photograph. Jefferson Avenue runs along the Detroit River on the city's east side and was lined with substantial homes in the decades around 1900. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made city views and sold them as prints and postcards, produced this 8 x 10 inch glass negative, and the record notes that the house was later moved from its original site.
