Quincy Market, the produce center, is the detail that sets this stereograph apart from the other views of Faneuil Hall and its surroundings on the board. The market building, designed by Alexander Parris and opened in 1826 as part of a larger complex of granite warehouses and market halls, was named for Mayor Josiah Quincy, who pushed for its construction to ease the city's crowded waterfront trade. By the time this card was made around 1906, the hall was a busy center for selling fresh food, and the stereo pair would have let viewers see its stalls and crowds in depth.
