A horsedrawn streetcar carries its passengers through Monte Cristi, a port on the northwest coast of what is now the Dominican Republic. The caption card's tags include bananas and police, which hint at the fruit trade moving through the harbor and at an official presence in the scene, though the card does not describe either in detail. Horse-drawn lines like this one were a common way to move people and goods around towns of this size in the early 1900s, before electric trams spread. The record comes from an older caption card and has not been independently verified, so the details should be read with that in mind.
