This panoramic print, at 10 by 30 inches, shows a boat club parade on the Harlem River, the narrow tidal waterway that separates Manhattan from the Bronx. Its wide format suits a line of boats and the bridges and shoreline around them. The photograph was made around 1902 by B. J. Falk and deposited for copyright on June 19 of that year, which is why the Library of Congress holds it. Rowing and boat clubs lined the river's banks at the time, and their parades were a common summer spectacle for crowds gathered along the water.
