Horseshoe Falls, the curved cataract that gives the place its nickname, is seen here from Goat Island, the wooded islet that divides the Niagara River's falls between the American and Canadian sides. The stereo card was issued by the Standard Scenic Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, around 1906, when stereoscope views were a popular way for families to see famous sights at home. The subject headings also list sightseers, a reminder that Niagara Falls had already become a major tourist destination by that time.
