Three men who helped shape the postwar order appear together in this 1945 print, which was made at the United Nations Conference on International Organization in San Francisco: Sol Bloom, Andrei Gromyko and Tom Connally. Bloom, a New York congressman, served as the conference's executive manager, while Connally, a Texas senator who chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was among the American delegates. Gromyko, a Soviet diplomat, would later become one of the longest-serving foreign ministers of the Cold War era. The conference ran from April to June 1945 and ended with the signing of the UN Charter.
