Titled "The late Dr. Sun-Yat Sen," this print preserves the likeness of a man who trained as a physician before becoming a revolutionary. Sun Yat-sen (1866–1925) studied medicine in Hong Kong, then led the uprising that ended the Qing dynasty in 1911. He became the first provisional president of the Republic of China in 1912 and is still regarded as the father of modern China. The catalog dates the print between 1900 and 1910, before his death, so the word "late" likely reflects a caption written afterward.
