Few details of this parade survive beyond its title, which places it on the seafront at Morecambe, the Lancashire resort on Morecambe Bay, looking east along the promenade. The print is a photochrom, a color process that used several lithographic stones to give hand-tinted-looking results, and it was sold to travelers as a souvenir of English seaside towns. Its catalog number and the 1905 listing point to the Detroit Publishing Company, which issued the Photochrom views in the early 1900s. The image shows the kind of holiday crowd and civic display that made resorts like Morecambe busy in the late Victorian period.
