The name at the center of this poster is Raul Julia, the Puerto Rican-born actor who was early in a career that would later bring him wide recognition in film and on stage. The poster advertises *Via Galactica*, a science-fiction rock musical with music by Galt MacDermot and a book and lyrics by John Guare, which opened on Broadway in 1972. The show was an unusual experiment for its time, blending a futuristic story with a contemporary rock score. Its Broadway run was brief, but it remains a notable example of the rock-influenced musicals that were appearing in New York during the early 1970s.
