The Photographic Journal of America ran this view of J.C. Strauss's new studio in its August 1897 issue, on page 355. It survives here as a photographic reproduction of that printed illustration, so fine detail depends on how the magazine's printers rendered it. Photographic studios of the period were typically planned around daylight, with large glass walls or overhead skylights that let photographers work with the exposure times of the day. The details about Strauss come from an old caption card and have not been checked against other sources.
