Standing at 30 14th Street Northwest in Washington, D.C., St. Stephen's Protestant church appears in this glass negative, which dates from about 1920 to 1921 based on other negatives in the same group. The National Photo Company, a commercial firm that photographed the capital from roughly 1907 into the mid-1920s, made the image as part of its record of the city's streets and buildings. The plate has streaks and other blemishes from the deterioration of its original coating, so some marks in the frame come from age rather than from the scene itself.
