Lake Quinsigamond, seen from Lake Park in Worcester, Massachusetts, is the subject here, with the water and shoreline set out across the view. The lake was a well-known recreation spot in the early 1900s, and it hosted collegiate rowing regattas, including the Harvard-Yale races, for many years. This 8 by 10 inch glass negative was made around 1906 by the Detroit Publishing Company, which photographed American towns, parks, and scenery for commercial sale and promotion. Its survival in a Colorado historical collection, given in 1949, shows how such views traveled far from where they were made.
