Taken from the top of the pedestal, this full-length frontal view sets the statue's robed figure and raised torch in one continuous line. It appears as plate 9 in Jeannette Griffith's album *Photographic Studies of the Bartholdi Statue of Liberty*. The caption card gives the date as a tentative 1938, so the exact year remains uncertain. Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi's copper figure, a gift from France, was dedicated in 1886 and rests on an iron framework engineered by Gustave Eiffel's firm.
