A bronze equestrian monument to Union general George B. McClellan stands at the junction of Connecticut Avenue and Columbia Road in Northwest Washington, and this glass negative records it in the early 1920s. The statue, a work by sculptor Henry Kirke Brown, was dedicated in 1907 and became a landmark in the city's growing residential neighborhoods. The National Photo Company, which documented Washington streets and monuments for views and postcards in the early twentieth century, made the exposure. Streaks and blemishes across the glass reflect natural deterioration of the original coatings over time.
