The record hedges between two names, Foxhall and Foundry Methodist Episcopal Church, so this view may show the Foundry congregation's building in Washington, a church whose roots reach back to 1814 and whose name came from a nearby cannon foundry. The National Photo Company, which produced thousands of views of the capital in the early twentieth century, documented churches, government buildings and street scenes during a period of rapid growth in the city. The film itself is worth noting: the catalogers mention streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of the negative's coating, which give surviving early negatives like this one their mottled, worn look.
