Hulett House stood at Huletts Landing on the southern end of Lake George in New York's Adirondack foothills, a spot that drew summer visitors in the decades after the railroads brought tourists north from New York City and Albany. This glass-plate negative was made by the Detroit Publishing Company, whose photographers traveled widely between about 1900 and 1910 documenting resorts, towns and scenery for postcards and promotional catalogs. Lake George was among the most popular destinations of that era, and the hotels along its shore, with their broad verandas and lakeside grounds, were central to the region's appeal.
