Agricultural Hall was one of the largest buildings on the grounds of the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, and this bird's-eye view shows its sprawling plan from above. The fair marked the hundredth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and drew millions of visitors over its run. Currier & Ives, the New York firm known for popular lithographs, issued the print, and the hand coloring was added by workers on the line, so each copy varies slightly. Its high vantage point lets viewers see how the exhibition's large halls were arranged across the park.
