A color lithograph from the Centennial Exhibition year lays out the exhibition grounds in Fairmont Park as seen from above, with its large halls and pavilions spread across the landscape. The Centennial marked 100 years since the Declaration of Independence, and it drew millions of visitors to Philadelphia over its run from May to November 1876. Bird's-eye views like this one were popular at the time because they let viewers grasp the scale of the sprawling site all at once. The print was issued by H.J. Toudy & Co. of Philadelphia, which put out several such views around the fair.
