Five-year-old Harold Walker is the subject of this view of a cotton field near Geronimo, in Comanche County, Oklahoma, taken on October 10, 1916. Lewis W. Hine made it while documenting child labor for the National Child Labor Committee, and his caption card records the boy's name. Cotton picking drew whole families, including young children, into the fields at harvest time, and Hine's pictures from this trip show how that work was done. The print belongs to a group with companion views 4564 and 4565, so it is worth comparing the three to see the same place from different angles.
