A single frame here joins the Statue of Liberty, a sculpture of a lion, and an inset portrait of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (1834-1904), the French sculptor who designed the statue. Bartholdi's Liberty was a gift from France, dedicated in New York Harbor in 1886. The lion may be his Lion of Belfort, a sandstone carving completed in Alsace in 1880 that brought him fame before the Liberty commission. The record lacks a date, so the print's age is uncertain.
