Sam'l Glucksman is the only name attached to this negative, which is dated March 16, 1922, though the record does not say who he was or how he connects to the image. The plate is a glass negative from the National Photo Company, a commercial studio active in Washington in the early twentieth century that recorded a wide range of local subjects. According to the record, Herbert A. French gave it to the Library of Congress in 1947. Streaks and other blemishes on the plate come from natural deterioration of the original coating, and they show how the glass has aged along with the image.
