This view centers on the steamboat *Governor Endicott*, which worked the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, the largest lake in the state. Around 1906, steamers like this one carried summer visitors between hotels, cottages, and landings across the lake, and the boats were a central part of the region's resort economy. The Detroit Publishing Company, which issued many scenic views of American resorts and travel destinations in this period, made the image from a 5 x 7 inch glass dry plate negative. The negative later passed through the State Historical Society of Colorado before reaching the Library of Congress.
