Tvindefos, a waterfall, and the hotel beside it on the Hardanger Fjord in western Norway set this view apart from the many fjord scenes in the collection. Hardanger drew a steady stream of foreign travelers in the 1890s, and hotels like this one offered them lodging and meals while they toured the region's waterfalls and water views. The print uses the photochrom process, which produced color images from photographs, and the Detroit Publishing Co. issued it in the United States, where it appeared in its 1905 catalog.
