Tall evergreens fill much of this view of The Firs in New Baltimore, Michigan, giving the scene a cool, shaded quality. New Baltimore sits on the Lake St. Clair shore north of Detroit, and in the early 1900s its lakeside setting drew summer visitors. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made many Michigan views for travel books and postcards, recorded this place on an 8 by 10 inch glass negative. The record dates the plate only to between 1901 and 1910.
