Looking out from the crags, this view takes in Blue Mountain, a peak in Hamilton County in New York's Adirondacks, with dense forest spreading across the slopes below. The glass negative bears the initials WHJ, likely for photographer William Henry Jackson, whose work for the Detroit Publishing Company covered scenic places across the country around 1900 to 1910. The 8 by 10 inch plate captures fine detail in the trees and the distant ridgelines.
