Few posters on this board treat a whole state as a destination, and this one pairs Pennsylvania's tourism with its farmland, the two subjects the catalog record highlights. Issued in 1936 under the Federal Art Project, it belongs to a wave of regional posters that the Works Progress Administration commissioned to attract visitors and build local pride during the Depression. The color woodcut technique gave the designer a bold, flat style that reads clearly from a distance. The poster is catalogued in the Library of Congress collection and in Christopher DeNoon's study of WPA posters.
