This 1936 poster is a membership appeal for the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in Michigan, a cultural institution promoting its programs during the Depression. It was produced as a silkscreen color print, a method the WPA poster units used because it allowed bold, flat shapes and inexpensive runs in quantity. The record credits Lord Leon as the designer and lists the Federal theater Project as sponsor, a reminder of how many New Deal agencies shared the work of supporting cultural life across the country.
