Autumn Crocus is a theatrical poster whose title names a stage production, and the record does not say which company staged it. The title matches a British romantic drama that was first produced in 1931, but the poster itself does not confirm which production it advertised. Made in California between 1936 and 1941, it is one of the silkscreen posters produced by the Work Projects Administration's Federal Art Project, which turned out inexpensive, bold graphics to promote the theater of the Depression years. Its Los Angeles subject places it within that effort to bring live drama to working audiences.
