Busan, spelled Fusan on this card, appears as an ordinary working street rather than the palaces or harbor views that stereo makers usually favored. The card was issued by Universal Photo Art Co. under the copyright of C.H. Graves, a firm that sold stereoviews of distant places to home viewers in the early twentieth century. Busan had opened to Japanese trade in 1876 and grew into a busy port, so the scene reflects a city changing under foreign commerce. The caption's tags mention charcoal, waterfronts and shipbuilding, but those notes are unverified and should be read as the card's own description.
