Hunter's Inn stands in Lynmouth, the small harbor village on the north coast of Devon, where the East and West Lyn rivers meet before running to the sea. The village sits far below Lynton, the town on the cliffs above, and the two were joined by a water-powered cliff railway in 1890, the same decade this photochrom was made. Detroit Publishing Co. issued these hand-tinted views in the 1890s, when Victorian travelers were flocking to the North Devon coast for its wooded combes and dramatic scenery.
