Fish Rock Camp on Upper Saranac Lake gives this glass negative its particular setting, with a wharf and shoreline that point to the sporting camps and resorts that drew visitors to the Adirondacks. The Saranac Lakes became a popular destination in the late 1800s and early 1900s for fishing, boating and mountain air, and the Detroit Publishing Company photographed such scenes for travel promotion. The record suggests the site may instead be Fish Creek Pond Campsite, so the exact location is not certain. The 8 by 10 inch negative dates from between 1905 and 1920.
