This color halftone advertisement presents a Lincoln cabriolet with coachwork by Le Baron, the body firm that worked on several American luxury chassis in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Lincoln, which Henry Ford's company had bought in 1922, sold itself as a premium marque, and custom coachbuilders like Le Baron gave its cars distinctive, fashionable bodies. The print is undated beyond a range of roughly 1927 to 1934, a period when automobile advertising increasingly relied on color illustration to show off upholstery, paint and streamlined lines. It belongs to the Wittemann Collection of advertisements held by the Library of Congress.
