Few posters of the period show a society ballroom as plainly as this one, and its caption promises a new craze: "Hot stuff" introduces the Arizona Waltz to New York society. The 1894 color lithograph was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company for Hoyt & McKee, the producers of Charles Hale Hoyt's *A Black Sheep*. Hoyt was a popular writer of farces, and posters like this one used lively scenes of fashionable dancing to pull in theatergoers. The image is a useful window onto how the stage and the press of the 1890s borrowed from the social dances of the day.
