Whistle Bottling Works is the title the National Photo Company wrote on this glass negative, though the name has not been independently verified. The plate is dated only to a span between 1910 and 1926, a period when the company's Washington, D.C., studio recorded city streets, businesses, and buildings. Bottling plants of that era served a fast-growing market for carbonated drinks, and documenting such commercial sites was part of the company's regular work. Viewers should also note the streaks and blemishes across the glass, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coating over time.
