A group portrait titled with Mrs. Gardner's name, though part of the record's second word is illegible, so the exact title remains uncertain. The glass negative dates from roughly 1910 to 1926, when the National Photo Company was producing a large volume of photographs in Washington, D.C., covering a wide range of subjects. Herbert A. French donated the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers should expect streaks and blemishes, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings on glass negatives of this age.
