This photograph shows the southwest corner of 21st and G Streets in northwest Washington, D.C., a intersection in the city's Foggy Bottom area, a short walk west of the White House. The caption card gives no date, so the scene has to be read from its street layout and the surrounding buildings. It belongs to the Wilhelmus Bogart Bryan Collection, assembled by a historian who wrote about the nation's capital, and its appearance in that group makes it useful for tracing how the city's streets and corners looked in an earlier period.
