The northwest corner of 25th and E Streets NW, in what is now the Foggy Bottom area, is the subject of this January 1913 view of an ordinary Washington intersection. The print comes from the Wilhelmus Bogart Bryan Collection, assembled by Bryan, a historian who was writing a multivolume history of the national capital and gathered many street-level photographs of its neighborhoods. The record notes that its caption card is old and unverified, so the exact date and details should be checked against other sources. Scenes like this one document everyday blocks that official views of the capital often passed over.
