A sign reading "Indian Path" marks the way to High Rock in Pen Mar Park, a resort on a ridge straddling the Maryland and Pennsylvania line. In the early 1900s, the park drew summer visitors from Baltimore and Washington by rail, and its walks and lookouts were a popular outing. The Detroit Publishing Company made this 8 by 10 inch glass negative between about 1900 and 1906 and sold views like this to travelers and promoters who wanted to show off American scenery. The sign and the wooded path show how resort guests reached the overlooks on foot.
