The Pan American Union building on Constitution Avenue, completed in 1910 to house the organization that became the Organization of American States, anchors this view. The title, supplied by the National Photo Company but not independently verified, points to an Oldsmobile business near the building around 1919 or 1920, a time when automobiles were quickly changing downtown Washington's streets. The company photographed the capital's buildings and traffic for decades, and the streaks and blemishes on this 8 by 6 inch glass negative show the natural deterioration of its original coating.
