Ask about licensing or this print

Rather than showing a place or a person, this poster is a call to action: its slogan, "A work of American art in every American home," urged the public to buy and display work by living American artists during National Art Week, November 25 through December 1, 1936. The Federal Art Project, a Works Progress Administration program that employed artists during the Depression, sponsored the campaign. The design is printed in silkscreen, a method the WPA poster division used to produce bold, flat areas of color in large runs, and it shows how federal arts programs tried to bring art into ordinary American homes.
