This aerial view follows Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenues, the two broad streets that frame the federal core between the Capitol and the White House. The caption credits the Photos Section at Bolling Field, an Army air station in southeast Washington, whose aviators photographed the city from above during the 1920s. Constitution Avenue was then being reshaped by federal building projects that would become the Federal Triangle, so the picture shows the city just before that change. The date comes from an old caption card and is unverified, so it should be read with some caution.
