This view shows the New York side of Niagara Falls, which the title and caption card both place at the state line between New York and Ontario. Niagara Falls State Park, created in 1885, was the first state park in the United States, and the American side had long drawn visitors to see the falls and the gorge below them. This is a photoprint copyrighted by A.G. Landreth and dated to about 1911, when such views were widely sold to tourists. The record draws on an unverified caption card, so the exact vantage point is best judged from the image itself.
