Glacier Point rises roughly 3,200 feet above the floor of Yosemite Valley, and this stereograph captures the sweeping view that drew late-nineteenth-century visitors to its edge. Keystone, the Meadville, Pennsylvania firm known for mass-producing stereo cards of American scenery, issued the card, and viewers held it up to see the scene in apparent depth. Most visitors of that era reached the overlook on horseback or on foot, and it became one of the valley's most popular stops. The record is limited, so the exact date and photographer remain uncertain.
