Little Round Top is one of the rocky hills on the Gettysburg battlefield where Union and Confederate troops fought on July 2, 1863, and this stereograph looks out from its crest across the fields toward Cemetery Hill. The Keystone View Company, based in Meadville, Pennsylvania, issued cards like this around 1927 to be viewed through a stereoscope, giving a three-dimensional sense of the ground. Its scene reflects the period when the battlefield had become a site of monuments and memorials, many of them placed by veterans and states in the decades after the war.
