Titled "Red Eye's Hall," this 1934 lithograph by M. Wolfe depicts a social dance in Nashville, Tennessee, where the record places the scene during the 1930s. The print belongs to a series called *American Negro Life*, and its pencil signature and subject tags mark it as a deliberate study of Black community life in the South during the Depression. Lithography was a practical medium for artists of the period, since it allowed multiple impressions from a single stone and made images of everyday scenes widely available. Viewers today can read the work both as a record of the dance hall's social world and as an example of how 1930s printmakers chose ordinary gatherings as their subject.
